Peter Edward McDonough, age 62, of Three Rivers, passed away suddenly on January 30, 2012.   He was born in Lockport, New York on March 11, 1949, the son of the late Lawrence and Nancy McDonough.

Mr. McDonough had been a long time resident of this area.   He was formerly employed in sales for the Johnson Corp. before moving to Texas and working for Tusing and Associates.   Upon moving back to Three Rivers he began Emerald Appraisal Group which he owned and operated for many years.   Peter and his wife Cherie were members of St. Augustine Cathedral Parish, where Pete was involved with The Knights of Columbus.

Pete spent his lifetime devoted to his family.   He spent time as a little league baseball coach, soccer coach, and a soccer referee.   He was an avid golfer and a devoted grandfather in his later years.

Mr.   McDonough was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert McDonough.

Pete leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Cheryl (Cherie) (Shafer) McDonough, whom he married on August 8, 1970 in Three Rivers; two children,   Peter McDonough, Jr., of Watertown, TN; and Allison (Aaron) Metz and their children, Zachary and Brady Metz, all of Fenton, MI; one brother, William (Donna) McDonough, of Highland, MI; two sisters, Mary Catherine (Mike) Kromrey, of Denver, CO, and Suzanne (Darrell Radson) McDonough, of Houghton, MI; sister-in-law, Kathy McDonough, of Three Rivers; many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A memorial mass will take place 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at St. Augustine Cathedral; 542 W. Michigan Ave in Kalamazoo, MI  49007 with Monsignor Thomas Martin as celebrant.   Interment of cremains will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society 513 Eleanor St; Kalamazoo, Mi 49007 in Kalamazoo or the Animal Rescue Fund of St. Joseph County P.O. Box 252; Centreville, Mi 49032 .   Envelopes are available at the Hohner Funeral Home in care of Peters arrangements.

Mrs. Rebecca (Becky) Ruth Norton, age 76, of Jones, MI. went peacefully to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family.   She was born on August 3, 1935 in LaGrange Twp., Cassopolis, MI. the daughter of John and Yula Belle (Marshall) Chiddister.

Mrs. Norton has been a lifetime resident of this area.   On May 28th 1955, she was united in marriage to Mr. Harold Douglas Norton on the Norton Family farm. Together they spent fifty-six wonderful years together.   Becky was a member of the Corey Church of the Nazarene and also the Baldwin Baptist Church during the time she and her husband spent there.   She was also a member of the Am Vets 1988, the V.F.W. Auxiliary 5313 both located in Baldwin, MI.

Mrs. Norton loved to garden, fish, cook, decorate cakes, raise chickens,  collect chicken knick knacks, flowers, puzzles, painting, sewing and crafts.   She especially loved spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Norton was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Wally Chiddister.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband, Harold Douglas Norton, of Jones, MI.; three sons, Harold D. (Holly) Norton Jr., of Jones, MI., John (Diane) Norton, of Three Rivers, and Jody (Sara) Norton, of Jones, MI.;  one sister, Nettie Childress, of Three Rivers; five brothers, John, of Marcellus, Tom and Bill, both of Three Rivers, Dale, of Springdale, AR., and Jeff Chiddister, of Volinia, MI.; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at  11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Newberg; (Poes Corner), with Pastor Mike Owen officiating.

Hilma Irene Gherna, age 86, passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 in Three Rivers, Mi.   She was born March 25, 1925 in Kansas City, MO., the daughter of Willy Paul and Ida(Turner)Schoppe.

 

Hilma graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1943.   She was united in marriage to Joseph D. Gherna in September of 1952.   Through the years she worked at Fairbanks Morse Co, Wells Manufacturing Corporation, Johnson Corporation, and retired from General Motors Hydramatic.   Hilma was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Three Rivers.   She was also a member of the Three Rivers Health Auxillary and Club of Little Gardens.

Hilma enjoyed working in the garden and especially spending time with her family and her many friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph D. Gherna,  sister, Ruth Hollabaugh, brother, William Paul”Bill”Schoppe, and half brother, Raymond Johnson.

 

Hilma leaves to cherish her loving memory, two daughters, Regina(Gary)Chapman and Theresa(Mark)Ankney, both of Three Rivers; son, Joseph(Dawn)Gherna of Three Rivers; grandchildren, Christopher(Keny Liz)Chapman, Jeremy(Denise Chitjian)Chapman, Kylee(Ben)Knapp, Jeffrey Ankney, Morgan(Mark)VanderKlok, Madison(Mikel)Zonyk, Paula(Clint)Fund and Jennifer(Michael)Downs;   great grandchildren;   Anthony, Andrew, and Abigayle Fund, Camden, Alivia, and Karissa Knapp, Lilly Mae Zonyk, and Makenna, Miley & Max Downs; special niece, Ruth(Bill)Walter; several nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00p.m.on January 30, 2012 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

 

 Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00a.m. on January 31, 2012 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Fr. Donald Potts as celebrant.

 

Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers, Mi.
